We are a chapter of the National Audubon Society and located in southwestern Westchester County, New York. We connect our community to nature through our programs and activities. All are welcome to participate. We are based at the Lenoir Nature Preserve in Yonkers where we maintain a Butterfly and Hummingbird Garden, opened from dawn to dusk year-round.

Saturday, October 3 at 1 PM Hawk Day. Master Falconer James Eyring shows and flies his hawks. At Lenoir Nature Center. Day starts with a Hawk Watch at 10 AM behind Lenoir Mansion. More…

Wednesday, October 7 at 7 AM Fall Migration Walk at Pelham Bay Park, Southern Zone, 1672 Stadium Ave, Bronx. Migrant sparrows and maybe a surprise on the capped landfill. Meet at the parking lot at the end of 1672 Stadium Ave. Walks continue on Wednesdays at 7 AM, October 14 and 28 (scroll down for locations). Also see Field Trips.

Saturday, October 10 at 8 AM. The Big Sit and a Hawk Watch, too. The object of a Big Sit is to count as many bird species as possible from one fixed location. We will be in the field behind the Lenoir Mansion, 1076 North Broadway, Yonkers. Park in lot south of mansion. When you come and how long you stay is up to you; we’ll be there until the late afternoon.

Sunday, October 18 at 9:30 AM Nature Walk starts at the Lenoir Preserve Nature Center. We’ll look for the changes the fall has brought to trees and plants. Fall migration brings in different bird species, some on their way south, some to stay the winter. Register by email with Debbi. More info about Nature Walks here.
